The Bride
Amy is part of an Army family and has lived in Turkey, Germany, England, and the Netherlands – oh, and North Carolina, Virginia and Kansas! She spent her high school years in Burke, Virginia outside of Washington, DC, and then went to the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
After graduating from college, Amy worked on Capitol Hill for U.S. Senator Charles S. Robb (D-VA) for three years, starting at the front desk and finishing as his Legislative Assistant for Appropriations and Virginia Projects. Most interested in her health care portfolio for the Senator, Amy pursued her Master’s Degree in Health Science from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. In the meantime, she worked for the National Association of State Medicaid Directors.
Presently, Amy is a Senior Associate at the Lewin Group, a health care and human services consulting firm (a Lewin report was quoted by President Bush during the debates in 2004). Amy works primarily on projects for state governments and the federal government and has traveled for work to several state capitols where she might not have otherwise had the occasion to visit, including Lincoln, Nebraska, Jackson, Mississippi, and Madison, Wisconsin.
In her spare time, Amy likes to travel as much as possible, host Cinco de Mayo parties, participate in bike rides and walks for charity, and catch up on the latest books her sister recommends. She is also trying to catch up on all the movies Chris says she should see; the whole list of which may well take her the next 10 years!
The Groom
Chris grew up in Lancaster County, the Red Rose of Pennsylvania in the neighborhood of Grandview Heights. After graduating from Manheim Township High School, he went to his father’s alma mater, William and Mary, for college. After some rough years as a biology/chemistry double major, he switched to computer science. He has never regretted that decision.
Chris has been working for PEC Solutions for 10 years. Over that time, he has been lucky enough to travel to most of the islands in the Caribbean, Hawaii, Alaska, some countries in South America, and most major cities in the U.S. (though in recent years, he’s had "great" assignments, including El Paso, Texas, Yuma, Arizona and Newark, New Jersey). He is currently working on classified projects for federal law enforcement and we can’t tell you what he does.
In his spare time, Chris likes to watch movies, host card night, play in tournaments with his friends, paint miniatures, and work to keep up with Amy’s biking activities. He figures in about 10 years, he’ll be able to join Amy on a 75-mile bike ride.
How We Met:
We disagree about how and when we met.
Amy thinks that we met at a camping trip with friends on Colonial Beach in Eastern Virginia.
Chris thinks we met about 6 months earlier at a cookie exchange party, but he can’t remember which type of cookies Amy brought!
We began hanging out more when Amy discovered that Chris taped television's government spy drama “Alias” on a regular basis and asked to borrow copy of a recent episode. Then Chris helped her move a few weeks later.
